Nepal holds eight of the world's fourteen mountains above 8,000 m, including Mount Everest. It also has dozens of lower climbing peaks and well-established expedition routes.
The journey is as much a part of the experience as the summit. Approaches lead through river valleys, forests, high pastures and mountain villages. Guides, climbing Sherpas, porters and lodge owners are central to every expedition, which gives a Nepal climb a cultural depth few other ranges offer.
